R.I.P. Democracy

I can’t sleep when something is on my mind. This poem popped out of my mind at 3 am this morning, can’t imagine what inspired it.

Couldn’t decide whether to post it on my political blog or creative one so I decided to put it in both.

What happened to democracy?

Was it stolen by hypocrisy

Enslaved by aristocracy

Or Replaced by an autocracy

Then buried in bureaucracy.

Where can we find equality?

Has it run away with honesty?

When corrupted by frivolity

And beaten by brutality.

Disguised as an authority.

Have we really lost humanity?

Was it deafened by profanity

And lured into insanity

By acts of pure depravity

If so then it’s a tragedy
